2016 is the Year of the Monkey. According to the Hsia Calendar, the season of Spring begins from February 4th, 2016 and signals the arrival of the Monkey year. This year 2016, belongs to the element Fire, thus it’s also known as the year of the Fire Monkey.

Let us look at what entails for the 12 zodiac signs for 2016 and how they fare compared to each other.  Each of us are born with an Animal Sign, according to the year of our birth. RAT (1948, 1960, 1972, 1984, 1996, 2008)

Rats are smart and nimble, so expect to be more active this year! You will have thoughts of procrastination, but do buck up and finish up your projects and commitments. Be prepared to finish outstanding chores and errands which you have been putting aside for the past year.

This may be a slightly rocky year career wise, for those born in the year of the Rat. There will be offers of assistance from your friends in times of need. The nobleman will be around this year. So put aside your pride and do not turn away their offer of help, accept it with gratitude.

Wealth wise, it will be a smooth year for the Rats, but do not put all your eggs in one basket. Be prudent with your finances and be alert to market conditions. Try to understand the financial terms thoroughly before buying any new investment products.

For married couples looking to expand their family, this is a good year to plan for a pregnancy. Keep up the spice in your marriage with gifts and romantic activities. As for those new couples, the first quarter of the year will be challenging so do be considerate and kind to your partner. Singles will have better romance luck going towards summer.

OX (1949, 1961, 1973, 1985, 1997, 2009)

Stubborn in nature but loyal to the core, the Ox can expect a challenging year ahead. Incorporate more non-work-related activities into your life and consider taking up a relaxing activity, such as swimming or yoga.

Those born in the year of the Ox are generally hardworking folks, but do note that there may be obstacles present at work. So remember to not just work hard, but also to work smart to navigate past the potential potholes at the workplace! 

It is time to save up and be more aware of your finances. Wealth luck is not too favourable. Do remember to save consistently for your family expenses and do not be spendthrift and cut down on unnecessary expenditure. Saving for a rainy day will come into play here.

This year, romance is in the air! For those in long term relationships, it’s time to settle down and plan for marriage. Younger singles may find their prospective partner towards the middle of the year.

TIGER (1950, 1962, 1974, 1986, 1998, 2010)

Tigers are known for being generally authoritative. Thus this year it is wise to keep a low profile, stay calm and avoid offending others. Keep your lifestyle healthy by exercising and spending less time cooped up at home in your den.

It is time to earn your stripes at the workplace! You may be looking at a pay increment or a promotion coming your way. But if you are looking for a new job, do not rush, and examine your prospects thoroughly before you look to greener pastures.

For those who had experienced heartbreak the previous year, it is time to buck up and look to getting into a new relationship this year. Do not harp on the past anxiety of heartbreak and look forward to a new romance. For those married, spice up your love life by going on dates and spending more time together by taking up a new hobby for example.

You will incur expenses this year with more travelling involved. Consolidate your travel plans and choose less pricey destinations. There may be an urge to upgrade your home this year through renovations but it is prudent to watch your budget before making any commitments.

RABBIT (1951, 1963, 1975, 1987, 1999, 2011)

Hop to the beat of the New Year! Rabbit friends can expect to have a smooth year ahead so it’s time to rejoice. However, remember to be rational and meticulous in whatever that you choose to undertake this year. Do not be complacent.

You can expect more cooperation from colleagues at work. Projects that may have approval issues in the past will gain support from your superiors. Work load will also generally get better. For those looking to have a change in their careers, this may be a good time to do so.

If you are still single, it is time to look for a partner and enter a romantic phase in your life! Build up your self confidence and strive to make new friends and acquaintances and expand your social circle. For those who are married, strengthen your relationship by treating your spouse with respect and care. Do not take your marriage for granted.

Those who have entrepreneurial aspirations, this is the year to turn your ideas to fruition. Ensure your planning is good and look for the right partner to bring your business idea to market. Investment wise, work out your finances and ensure all are in order before putting your money into other speculative products.

DRAGON (1952, 1964, 1976, 1988, 2000, 2012)

It looks to be a generally favourable year for those born in the year of the Dragon! There will be new challenges facing you, but do take them up with confidence. It is recommended for you to stay active and watch your health, eat well and be conscious of your dietary concerns.

Time to take note! Do not shy away from opportunities at work. This is the time to show your abilities and be appreciated by your superiors. Remember to stay humble and to accept criticism to improve aspects of your work, as an encouragement to perform better in the future.

For married folks, in order to keep your relationship going, it is probable that you may have to make more compromises and learn to be more giving during this time. Singles will meet more new friends this year as your social circle expands through more gatherings and introductions from colleagues.

SNAKE (1953, 1965, 1977, 1989, 2001, 2013)

Snakes are known to be intelligent and wise. However, this year you may encounter occasions where you will feel reserved. Snakes also have the tendency to be easily stressed, so do take some time out and have your own space to cool down.

Goat (1943, 1955, 1967, 1979, 1991, 2003, 2015)

The Rams were in charge in 2015, but it is now time for them to transition to the year 2016. It may be a slow year for the Rams, but plans will still progress well and remember to strive towards success, and be motivated throughout the year.

If your career seems to be in a limbo this year, do not dwell nor be pessimistic. Stay positive and keep your morale up. This is an opportunity for you to take up self improvement courses or that advanced certification that you had been mulling about.

For singles, don’t be cooped up at home. You will have to widen your social circle in order to meet your prospective partner. For those married couples, be adventurous and seek out new activities and dates to spice up your relationship with your spouse. Maintain a harmonious relationship by making your feelings known to your spouse and express yourself with sincerity.

MONKEY (1944, 1956, 1968, 1980, 1992, 2004, 2016)

The Monkeys are in charge for the year 2016! It is known that Monkeys are inherently intellectual and creative. So put that creativity and smarts to use by taking up new self improvement projects, as well as setting new goals for the year and striving to meet them.

At the workplace, you will be tempted to have the upper hand in most situations and this may cause misunderstandings with your colleagues and lead to an unharmonious workplace setting. ROOSTER (1945, 1957, 1969, 1981, 1993, 2005)

It may prove to be a stressful year for the Roosters in 2016, so do take care of your health. Improve your stamina by eating right, taking up some calming activities and spending more time with your loved ones.

You may experience some stagnation in your career progression and frustration may build up. However, it may be time for you to upgrade your skills through taking up courses or look to further your studies. It may also be time to apply for that sabbatical leave and take a break from work to unwind.

DOG (1946, 1958, 1970, 1982, 1994, 2006)

Passionate and friendly, those born in the year of the Dog are truly in for a good year ahead. You may be busy with errands and social activities this year. So remember to also spend more time with your family and offer your support to loved ones.

Those seeking a partner must be realistic in their expectations and be more forthright in their choices. Married couples should plan some activities and spend more time with their spouse. PIG (1947, 1959, 1971, 1983, 1995, 2007)

Those born in the year of the Pig are characteristically generous people. This is the year to take up more charitable causes and volunteer your time to those who are less privileged. There will be some challenges to be faced this year but approach them with optimism and overcome them without any hassles.

For those looking to start a new entrepreneurial venture, this is the year to be your own boss! However do be wary towards the 3rd quarter of the year with any important business decisions.
