Stove and Fire Element

Hi Madam Lee, I own a small two story townhouse which has the stove located directly below the toilet. I am told that this is not good Feng Shui and was wondering if you could please advise me – Mrs. J from Queensland

The stove belongs to the fire element and the toilet to the water element and of course water and fire clash.  There are many formulas involving fire and stove placement, but one thing they all agree on is the proximity of the fire to the water and the WC above the stove is not desirable.  If the stove is in a good position for itself, ie if its in a strong fire mountain in the South then I would still use the stove as it will support itself quite well. However if it is in a strong water mountain in the North then the WC above will only make things worse.

In this case ideally you would consider moving the stove or cooking on another portable stove in a more suitable location, either inside or on a BBQ outside. Last of all I would recommend to keep a plant beside the stove as the plant is wood element which will help to reduce the water and support the fire. I do stress though that this would be my last option. The best situation is to start with a good design when building, or when renovating and have a Feng Shui consultant to help you work out the best stove placement before you commence the renovations. Happy Cooking!
