What is Feng Shui? Feng Shui simply means ‘Wind and Water’ and is an ancient Chinese science that studies our physical environment and how it affects our well being. It was first developed some 5,000 years ago and is a system of techniques and methods based on a very comprehensive set of guidelines and mathematical formula. Central to this body of knowledge is the concept of Yin and Yang, the flow of Qi energy and the five elements of Fire, Earth, Metal, Water and Wood. These help to activate or remedy an influence and bring balance and harmony to the places in which we live and work.

By applying this knowledge our highly qualified and experienced professional consultants can use Feng Shui to assess your physical environment and its natural forces and guide you in the selection of your home site, the design of your home and the arrangement of your living space. This in turn can create a home that will better support financial prosperity, good health and harmonious relationships and help you to fulfill your life potential.

The 3 Lucks

There’s an Chinese old proverb that says:

“First is a man’s Destiny,
Second is his Luck
Third is his Feng Shui,
Fourth is his Virtue
And Fifth is his Knowledge”.

Feng Shui is not a spiritual practice that creates miracles.  It does not bring overnight success or immediately change the circumstances of your life.  Those who would promise instant wealth do not truly understand Feng Shui.  It cannot create good fortune on its own, but it can create favorable energy around your home or workplace.  According to Chinese philosophy, there are three factors that determine why your life is the way it is.  They call it Tien, Ti and Ren or Heaven, Earth and Man Luck.

First there is Heaven Luck, which is the blueprint that you inherited at birth.  No one has control over the circumstances of their birth, nor of the good and bad periods of one’s life.  It is the potential that you have as an individual based on three factors: genetics and your susceptibility to certain illness; astrology and the planetary influences that shape your personality and finally your previous karma.   Heaven Luck accounts for around 30% of why your life is the way it is.  It remains fixed from birth and it is only through working on your Earth and Man Luck that your health and destiny can be changed.

Earth Luck is within our control.  It is the luck that comes from our environment and gets strengthened when the Feng Shui is auspicious.  It accounts for around 20% of our overall luck and represents the environmental influences that affect our everyday life.  This includes the influence of land forms, geopathic stress, colour, shapes, architecture of buildings and many other earthly energies.  If we actively create good Feng Shui in our homes and workplaces then we can significantly improve our Earth Luck.  It is a vital part of the circumstances of one’s life for it addresses that part of our destiny that we can exercise some control over.  Feng Shui in our environment can bring opportunities, improve chances for success, enhance our living conditions and create peace and goodwill in our relationships.

Feng Shui reaches it maximum potential only when accompanied by equally strong and excellent Man Luck.  This is the most important of all the influences because it accounts for around 50% of who you are and is also within our control.  Having good Feng Shui in your environment may bring opportunities for advancement and the promise of success, but if you don’t accompany this with some good old-fashioned work, a positive attitude and a determined outlook, then all your good Feng Shui will be wasted.  Man Luck is the luck that you create for yourself and can be further determined by charitable deeds, self-education and positive thought.
